Julien's Perspective

Some thoughts on this model

If your crucible of ambition is to own an early Porsche, then a fully fettled and enhanced 2.4T is a great place to start.

Originally an Italian delivered car but purchased unseen via the DDK website in 2012 as a 'useable, driveable restoration project'....in short it wasn't, but the owner being along term seasoned 911 owner, thus a pragmatic chap, immediately shipped it off to his favoured Nick Moss at "Early 911" for his valued opinion.

A cursory glance by Nick established that simple repairs weren't going to be practical nor money well spent, thus a full restoration was agreed upon.

Given Nick's lead-time and work already in progress, it took I understand nearly a year.

Having initially stripped the car it was then acid dipped, which clearly identified areas of concern. The invoice trail defines what was replaced but no surprises, these were in the main, kidney bowls, inner wings and sills.

Both the engine and gearbox were rebuilt, the latter being sent off gearbox specialists whilst Nick undertook the mechanical rebuild himself, which I understand is now slightly up on power at 140BHP. Again the detailed invoice gives a break down the work undertaken.

Brakes and suspension were overhauled and zinc plated and powder coated accordingly.

As you would expect, it's a fully comprehensive list of works which includes the interior, electricals, paint and chrome.

The desired look was evidently a homage to Mr McQueen, hence the slate grey paint work and super comfortable houndstooth D'Eser seats which came from Italy. The nicely finished Fuchs were shod with correct 185/70 Pirelli's, which again enhance the car's look.

All in all, a lovely example of an early 2.4T that's been in the hands of just 2 enthusiast Porsche owners since its restoration and covered minimal miles but nevertheless serviced and maintained properly.

It would be a pleasure to answer any questions you might have. However, to really appreciate this Porsche, it needs to be seen “in the flesh”, so do please call me directly on +44(0)1737 844999 to arrange a viewing.
