Some thoughts on this model
According to the AMOC, this Aston Martin V8 Series 3 is the only remaining car of a production of just six such V8's, still finished in its period 'Mandarin Yellow' livery. Secondly, it appears to be a rather rare crossover car; one of the very last S3's prior to the introduction of the Oscar India.
Chassis 11802 thus left the factory with the full walnut dashboard and upgraded dash instrumentation of the later cars whilst retaining the cleaner look of the original William Town's design tail, without the bolt on spoiler.
This V8 has also been the subject of much expenditure and various upgrades over the years to full Vantage 580X spec, which included fitting a Vantage spec front spoiler - all of these upgrades were carried out by Aston Engineering in Derby, who have often been leaders in such work.
Full engine rebuild approx just 18,000 miles ago by AE's guru Dave Jacks to 580X Vantage spec, to include a gearbox rebuild & upgrade to ensure faster changes and more responsive kick down. Upgraded AP calipers and brakes with ventilated discs. Harvey Bailey handling kit and upgraded shocks, fitment of super rare Giotto alloys in period, enabling fitment of wider lower 255/55 16 profile tyres. The Giottos are still with the V8 but its currently shod with its original restored GKN alloys with factory spec Avon turbospeed tyres.
Every Aston aficionado who has driven the car claims it to be one of the fastest and nicest V8's they've ever driven. The power delivery from the Dave Jacks engine is fabulous.
Whilst this car has always been regularly used, it has been pampered. It never goes out in the rain if possible and it continues to be fastidiously maintained. As such this V8 comes with a massive history file.
The last owner on file acquired the car back in 1989 and the body was fully restored including mandatory sills etc by Aston Engineering in the early 1990's. However, the current owner since 2017, being somewhat of a perfectionist, has overseen a rather expensive full glass out, bare metal repaint by marque specialists. All gaps are perfect, the paint really is superb and flawless. A photographic record of this work is on file. The full black leather interior has been restored too, but the cabin retains a lovely patina.
Latterly, Davron, the Aston specialists in Wiltshire, have been responsible for looking after the car. As well as routine maintenance including recently overhauling the power steering, and braking systems they also completely upgraded the air conditioning system which now works superbly, somewhat of a rarity where V8's are concerned!
In short, this car is genuinely unrepeatable. A rare example in the old car world of an uber cool 70's supercar in a unique colour that really does drive as well as it looks.
