Some thoughts on this model
Many are familiar with the story of how the Giullietta was originally offered in a prize draw in Italy to kick start car production and the Italian post war economy.
Designed by Franco Scaglione at Bertone, it offered an exquisite shape to clothe a beautiful chassis and a jewel like twin overheads camshaft 1290 cc 4 cylinder engine.
The Giullietta Sprint Coupe was joined by the more powerful Veloce of which this is an excellent example.
This car benefits from a 5 speed gearbox a rare option at the time.
These little cars were hugely successful in the Alpine and other rallies of the time and featured extensively in the Shell Motor Racing Films of the time.
After a life in Italy and Texas this car returned to Italy in or around 2014.
It was completely restored bodily and mechanically regardless of cost by Marchioni Auto Storiche, Italy and stands before you at least as well turned out as when it left the factory in 1958. Being effectively a new car, it present beautifully.
Blu Iseo paintwork is really stunning on this little gem of a Bertone masterpiece.
Used infrequently but in first rate order throughout and drives superbly.
