Some thoughts on this model
Initially purchased by a GP from Hull from Kennings of Scunthorpe, it was later acquired by the current family in 1977. Infrequently driven by both keepers and then sadly entirely taken off the road in 1989 due to the owners deteriorating health, this Mini Cooper at time had only covered 35,619 miles.
Inherited by his niece in 2007, the car was completely untouched and in original condition but evidently required recommissioning; this was entrusted to Poole Lane Classics in Yorkshire and pleasingly there are original invoices on file amounting to ₤13,500. Given its long period of inactivity, not unusually, both door 'A' panels needed replacing along with the boot floor. The remarkably untouched and correct factory Dove Grey and Porcelian Green interior remained, with as you can see in one my photographs, even some of the original plastic seat covering surviving intact...the carpets were the only item replaced.
Post its 2009 recommissioning, another period of inactivity followed and the car was professionally stored until 2016. Recent minor works by the excellent Paul Wilson at 'General Mini Restoration' have put this Cooper back into rude health and it literally 'bombs' along....he was equally impressed with its originality and thus with file Mots, its current mileage showing just over 38,000 seems completely plausible.
A Heritage certificate confirms its Almond Green and Old English White paintwork is correct, plus its body, chassis and engine numbers are all as per the certificate and therefore matching...even the date stamp on the wiper motor is 1965. A really first class example.
It would be a pleasure to answer any further questions you might have. This Morris Mini Cooper can be inspected at my Guildford showroom - please call me on 07788 865700.
