Some thoughts on this model
A lovely home market Jaguar XK120 Roadster that left the factory in January 1950 destined for Jaguar dealers, ‘Rossleigh of Inverness’, who interestingly, were amongst the very first appointed official Jaguar agents. It is also worthy of note that only 1,170 RHD XK 120 OTS’s (Roadsters) were built as opposed to over 6,436 LHD cars.
This Jaguar is a well-known OTS having passed through some distinguished hands in the past and had already benefited from an all-synchro gearbox with overdrive and front disc brakes being fitted.
The last keeper purchased it from a well-known specialist some 4 years ago and then almost immediately dispatched it to Twyford Moors for a thorough going over and some sensible improvements. The resulting large invoice covers a multitude of upgrades and subtle changes, from new bumpers, driving lamps, alternator conversion, electric fan, new chrome wire wheels to Blockley tyres, not forgetting, a large service too.
I can attest from my drive back from Chichester that it is a very lively XK which drives exceptionally well with the slightly sportier exhaust note adding to the overall enjoyment. It has been more recently repainted in Carnival Red and very nicely trimmed in tan leather. Both the tonneau and hood are in excellent condition as are the side screens.
Amongst the written history is a feature on the car when it appeared on the front cover of Shrewbury's famous "Prince Rupert's" Hotel brochure….it was on its original steel wheels and spats, so a few years ago now. This Jaguar is in excellent condition both mechanically/bodily and presents very well, with its enhancements significantly adding to its drive-ability.
With Spring upon us and Summer just around the corner, it makes for a very attractive opportunity.
It would be a pleasure to answer any further questions you might have. This lovely XK120 can be inspected at my Guildford showroom - please call me directly on 07788 865700.
