Some thoughts on this model
Supplied by Citroen Berkeley Square on 6th October 1989, the car was subsequently sold to its second keeper in September 1990, who remarkably kept it for a further 26 years covering just 5000 miles in this time. In fact it was taken off the road in 1997 at 5877 miles, only to reappear in February this year.
Having been correctly stored throughout the last 20 years, it sailed through its February MOT requiring just a new coil, condenser/points and battery. This work was undertaken via Mark Waghorn in Battersea who is highly regarded in the Citroen world having raced, restored and been closely associated with the French marque for many years. Certainly his opinion is worthy of note, so it was of no surprise when he gave it a resounding thumbs up, but certainly for him this car being on its original chassis is a huge bonus, as the driving and handling is vastly superior when compared to a restored/re-chassed car.
As you can see from the photographs, other than a little mark on the front wing, the whole car is in superb condition and virtually without fault, including the very original interior where there are no rips or tears in the seats or roof.
I have owned numerous 2CV's and traversed most of Europe in one; they are enormously practical, oddly roomy and surprisingly rapid and always a sheer joy to drive. I would be very surprised if there were a better or more original 2CV on the market today.
It would be a pleasure to answer any further questions you might have. This Citroen can be inspected at my Guildford showroom - please call me directly on 07788 865700.
