Some thoughts on this model
This UK supplied 2002 Tii Lux was first registered to a BA pilot in October 1975 and is one of the last models produced before the appearance of the all-new 3 Series and as such incorporated a number of upgraded mechanical features built into all new 3 Series which arrived during the same year.
The second keeper was certainly an enthusiastic and dedicated 2002 owner as he cherished it for over 33 years and sadly only relinquished it once he gave up driving in 2009.
Finished in the original factory specification of Arktisblau Metallic with light cloth interior and retains all of its 'Lux' features that made it that extra bit special - these include wooden door and dashboard trims and wooden gear knob, rear centre armrest and the original Blaupunkt radio cassette player is still there with a very period retro microphone for dictating notes....even the original factory blue/green tinted glass with its 'Acthung' sticker is in situ.
Lovely to see a large history file which evidences care and attention this car has received throughout its life and includes a comprehensive description of both the mechanical and cosmetic work undertaken over the last 42 years.Important recent works carried out by renowned 2002 specialists includes the rear subframe removal, prepared and powder coated and reassembled with new brakes and suspension all round. The gearbox has recently been upgraded to a 5-speed unit, substantially better when sustaining higher speed....pleasingly the original item remains with the car.
One forgets the advantages of a light and airy cabin, no 'blind spots detection' nor 'lane warning departure' bleeps needed here, everything is clearly visible....oh for the 70's simple designs again.
Now widely recognised as being one of the greatest road/performance cars of its era, something that BMW would now endorse as the 'Ultimate Driving Machine'.
It would be a pleasure to answer any further questions you might have. This BMW can be inspected at my Guildford showroom - in the first instance, please call Drew Wheeler directly 07796 270137.
