Some thoughts on this model
The factory produced a limited run of production sports models off the back of the TT success in Supercharged and un-supercharged form. Indeed, such was the limited nature of these desirable motor cars that innumerable copies, tributes and replicas have been spawned.
Some background history; interestingly this little Seven started life as a 1932 Box Ruby 7 and was converted during the late fifties ultilising a 'Super Accessories' body of which I understand only 14 were produced.
The present Ulster body, a lovely 'Rob Yates' hand built aluminium tub was fitted approximately 10 years ago along with a fully rebuilt engine by well known specialist Stuart Broad. The block has plus 60 pistons, Morris inlet valves and modified porting plus a full race camshaft and a larger capacity oil pump. Carburation is via a 1 3/4' SU mounted on a specialist inlet manifold, while the exhaust is a 4 to 1 branch manifold ceramic coated in black.
The gearbox is a 4 speed with synchromesh on 3rd & 4th gears mated to a standard clutch with a coil spring cover. The Seven's suspension has a modified front beam as associated with EA bodied 7's, the chassis was completely stripped and powder coated before final assembly. Brakes have thoroughly been overhauled and are an early Morris minor type with a 7/8 master cylinder, handbrake is standard as per period with fly off.
There have a been a number of sensible upgrades on the electrical side to improve both safety & the driving experience; a new 12v loom negative earth fitted along with a dynameter alternator, an accuspark electronic distributor and an electronic tachometer.
This Seven presents beautifully, its newly applied & faultless Highland Green paintwork contrasts nicely with the lovely re-upholstered green leather interior which has the benefit of a split tonneau. The Seven has been fully prepared for sale by its retired Aston Martin engineer owner, just Mot'd too, so completely on the button and a absolute hoot to drive !
