Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT Veloce Coupe

1967

Alfa Romeo
Here we have some 1960's eye candy! Launched in 1963, the Giulia Sprint GT was designed by Bertone's Giorgetto Giugiaro and incorporated the famous "scalino" or "step front". With 106bhp on tap, independent front suspension, coil-sprung live rear axle and all round disc brakes, it was hailed as a true driver's car by road test editors of the day and evidently also by the discerning buying public, as the model ran successfully in various guises until 1977.

Julien's Perspective

Some thoughts on this model

Chassis # AR298423 is an original UK car, one of 1400 RHD produced and rather importantly, if the figure quoted by 'how many left' is correct, one of only twenty remaining that is either taxed or sorn here in the UK, so something of a rarity now, especially so, in this wonderful condition.

Manufactured in August 1966 and supplied via Mangoletsi in Knutsford, Cheshire to its first keeper on 24th February 1967, it was to remain in the same family for the next 44 years covering an indicated 37,500 miles - having spoken to the last owner, this mileage is he says accurate and certainly, the MOTs on file go a long way to substantiating this. With only 2 further keepers and a couple of thousand miles added since 2009, this is a little gem of an Alfa Romeo - the Rosso coachwork has been refreshed some years ago but the interior is faithful to its original build, with both the original Skai trim with red carpets being in almost perfect condition.

As it is becoming difficult to find 14 inch performance tyres, the last owner opted for a quite beautiful set of 15 inch Alfaholics alloy wheels & Michelin tyres (£1,400), pleasingly though, the original set of steel wheels accompany the car.

The history file contains the original Mangoletsi service coupon book and various period Alfa Romeo instruction books and service guides and a multitude of invoices from Classic Alfa to the tune of £3,500. Further upgrades include, fitment of modern headlamps improving night visibility and a Dynalite alternator that gives the benefits of alternator power and reliability with the original looks of the dynamo.

Just delivered to me from professional storage, the car wants for nothing and will be supplied with a fresh MOT. It would be a pleasure to answer any further questions you might have. This Alfa Romeo can be inspected at my Guildford showroom - please call 07788 865700.
